Description

In his long-awaited and controversial book, former Illinois governor, Rod Blagojevich finally details, for the first time ever, the story of the political scandal that continues to rock the nation. The son of an immigrant steel-worker, Blagojevich rose through the complicated world of Illinois politics to become the first Democratic governor in Springfield in twenty-six years. Blagojevich, twice-elected governor of the fifth largest state in the country, oversaw an administration wracked by allegations and attacks from both political parties. He was arrested at his home on December 9, 2008 by federal authorities based on wiretapped phone conversations and allegations of his attempt to sell, for personal gain, the senate seat vacated by President-elect Barack Obama. Blagojevich has been vilified and condemned by both political parties and the media, often by those who don't eve know the charges that have been brought against him. Now, in his first book, the governor responds to those allegations and is finally able to tell his side of the story. Quoting from sources as diverse as Jim Wallis' God's Politics, Aeschylus, Shakespeare and The Purpose Driven Life, THE GOVERNOR provides not just an inside look at politics on a state and national level but a treatise on the proper place of government in the everyday lives of its people.
